The Appeal of the Avenues
By being Salt Lake’s first established neighborhood, the avenues hold as much history as an antiques shop and as much character as the treasures within. This area was first surveyed in 1850, which is clear to see with the Victorian architecture. With the north-to-south streets labeled with letters (A-V) and the east-to-west streets labeled by numbers (1st-18th) it’s easy to navigate around this area as long as you know your ABC’s.
Throughout the entire area you’ll find local businesses, restaurants, and coffee shops sprinkled into the backdrop. It’s friendly to joggers offering the winding trail of City Creek Canyon and family friendly with the many parks scattered throughout. Overall, the Avenues works as an independent community that is surrounded by bustling downtown to the south, the exquisite City Creek Canyon to the west, and the Federal Heights area to the east.

Dining and Shopping
As far as coffee goes, Java Jo’s and Jack Mormon Coffee have made their claim on the Avenue’s community. For a great bite to eat? We recommend Avenues Proper for weekend brunch, Cucina Deli for a European styled lunch, and Saffron Valley for a taste of India.
With Trax stations just a couple blocks away it’s easy to also use public transportation for your daily commute.
If you work at the university or downtown your commute couldn’t be easier. You’re less than 5 minutes to downtown and less than 10 to the nearest freeway entrance to I15.
