The Lovely Federal Heights Neighborhood
The Federal Heights area was built into the hillside of the Wasatch Front. Because of this, the residents of this area get to take advantage of gorgeous views of the city, tree lined streets, and a quiet suburban feel. Federal Heights is located east of downtown, just north of the University of Utah campus. Because of this, the concrete block letter U on the mountain is an easy way to spot this neighborhood.
With most of the homes built in the early 1900’s when Fort Douglas was established, this area is as historic as it is beautiful. The curvy streets combined with wide sidewalks bordered by mature trees make this neighborhood a picturesque community.

Dining and Shopping
Due to the suburban nature and historic past of this area the tree-lined streets limit the immediate dining options. However, with the close proximity to downtown and the University areas bring many shopping and restaurant selections, some even within walking distance.
Federal Heights is just minutes from downtown and close to direct Trax lines that go from the University to downtown.
Like all great neighborhoods in the Salt Lake Valley, Federal Heights is very bike friendly. With paths leading into the Avenues or into the University communities, it’s easy to get downtown.
The closest freeway entrance is about 10 minutes away.
